Bloomberg Business article New York Health Department officials announced Thursday they will add opioids to the list of treatments approved for chronic pain for patients who are not able to receive medication for pain.

The announcement comes after the Trump administration lifted restrictions on the use of opioids, including opioids, for chronic medical conditions.

The health department will allow patients to receive opioid therapy in limited circumstances, the department said in a news release.

The department also will allow the use, sale and distribution of certain prescription medications to patients with pain, it said.
